Maple Finance obtains SEC exemption to use on-chain Treasury Pools

Blockchain institutional capital marketplace, Maple Finance, has received regulatory approval from the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to offer its one-month U.S. Treasury yields to accredited investors within the U.S. This exemption comes after the company previously restricted the Maple Finance Treasury Pools to accredited investors outside of the U.S. The approval was granted under the SEC Regulation D Rule 506(c) Exemption, which allows firms to offer investment products to individual investors in the U.S. with a net worth exceeding $1 million or an annual income exceeding $200,000. Accredited U.S. entities, such as banks, are also eligible to purchase these investment products.

Maple Finance has seen significant interest in its Treasury Pool offerings, with over 21 million USDC (USD Coin) deposited into the pools. The Treasury Pools currently offer an annualized yield of 4.76%, with no inbound or outbound fees except for an annualized management fee of 0.50% deducted from the yield. Onboarding takes just 15 minutes, and lenders have the convenience of downloading monthly interest statements at any time. Withdrawals are processed within a maximum of 48 hours, ensuring quick access to funds.

Room40 Capital, an institutional crypto hedge fund established in 2022, is currently the sole borrower from the Maple Finance Treasury Pools. The proceeds from the loan will be used to purchase and hold short-dated U.S. Treasury bills and reverse repurchase agreements, all fully collateralized by U.S. Treasury bills. Since the launch of the Treasury Pools in April, Room40 Capital has made 46 payments without any late payments.

This successful regulatory exemption and increasing interest in the Maple Finance Treasury Pools highlights the growing demand for decentralized finance (DeFi) solutions in the traditional financial market. By providing access to U.S. Treasury yields in a blockchain-based marketplace, Maple Finance is catering to investors looking for alternative investment opportunities that offer attractive returns. The approval from the SEC further enhances the credibility and legitimacy of the Maple Finance platform, making it an appealing choice for accredited investors within the U.S.

As the crypto industry continues to evolve, it is crucial for companies like Maple Finance to navigate the regulatory landscape effectively. By securing regulatory exemptions and adhering to compliance standards, Maple Finance can attract more investors and strengthen its position in the DeFi market. The success of Room40 Capital in utilizing the Treasury Pools and meeting its financial obligations without delay demonstrates the viability of this platform as a reliable source of capital for institutional investors.

In conclusion, Maple Finance’s regulatory approval from the SEC to offer its Treasury Pools to accredited investors within the U.S. is a significant milestone for the company. With increasing deposits and an attractive annualized yield, the demand for these investment products is growing. By expanding its reach to U.S. investors, Maple Finance is positioning itself as a leading player in the DeFi space, providing a secure and transparent marketplace for accredited investors to access U.S. Treasury yields.
