Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has dismissed the idea of creating “autonomous regions” in Ukraine, floated by Trump ally Rick Grenell, as too little, too late.
Grenell was one of the few trusted operatives in President Donald Trump’s administration, serving first as ambassador to Germany and then as acting director of National Intelligence.
“Where were you, Rick, when the Minsk agreements dedicated to exactly this were on the table of the international community, and Russia did its best in support of them and called for finding a form of federalization of Ukraine to preserve its integrity?” Zakharova said on Telegram, reacting to Grenell’s proposal.
“You were the US ambassador in Berlin at the time and called on the Germans to abandon the construction of the Nord Stream gas pipeline, grossly interfering in the internal affairs of Russia and Germany. Now the Germans are without gas and the economy, and the Ukrainians are without a country and a stable future,” she added. – RT

I’m in Serbia I recently measured over 50C, now Serbia and the Balkans are a lot hotter than most westerners realize, but god damn 50C is insane. Yeah it’s not the air temp but it’s literally the real temp in the city…

@donrosario3

@syfre9506
People buy big inverter and big battery, and refill these when they have electricity, so not surprising that the network is overload.
My friend said she had 29° during the night in Kiev.

@John_Pace
My comments keep getting deleted (not just here). As the posters of YT videos get paid by the number of comments and likes, YT censorship is costing them money. Maybe, this censorship is a way for YT to keep costs low and more profits from the advertising.

@kathrynck
41C is genuinely hot.
Previous reports of 36C did not impress me. That sounds like normal July weather to me.
But as the temperature rises any significant amount above human core body temperature (37C), suddenly hydration and humidity level (affects whether perspiration is helpful) becomes critical.
The temperatures will probably have a calming effect on hostilities. Nobody will feel like fighting when they’re light-headed from heat.
It will also limit the effectiveness of IR based drone sensors.
Of course that’s the high temp… at night it’ll be much cooler.

Why you shovel’ why it’s Hot – Why you – Ukrainians struggle with scorching heat amid power crisis
Regular Russian air strikes have ravaged the country’s energy system, leading to hours-long rolling blackouts that have forced residents and businesses to adapt in the extreme heat.
The Central Geophysical Observatory said on Tuesday it had clocked a record-high 93.5 degrees Fahrenheit (34.2 degrees Celsius) in Kyiv for July 15. Temperatures on Tuesday were expected to reach even higher.

Regarding electricity, we in Kyiv have electricity for 3 hours and then blackout for 6 hours. Sometimes worse. Which of course means no air conditioning or even a fan. A few days ago I threw out all the food in my refrigerator as it was spoiled or unsafe to eat. Since I was a soldier in Vietnam, I know what the soldiers are going through. But in Vietnam we did not wear body armor so I suppose it is worse for them. Going to HydroPark tomorrow. It is the middle of the night now and still near 90 with 100% humidity

@pong9000
Russia has used cloud-seeding (rain) planes since the 1960s, both for agriculture relief and special events – for example guaranteeing blue skies at Moscow Olympics by forcing clouds to rain out before they reach the city. This requires atmospheric humidity, that I guess the current weather lacks.

An American diplomat who died suddenly on June 24 at the Kiev Hilton Hotel turned out to be military adviser Richard “Rich” Harry Kirlin.
His obituary was published on the American online memorial site Legacy.
Kirlin worked in the US Air Force, close ties with the Central Command of the American Armed Forces (CENTCOM), work directly in the Pentagon, and then in the State Department.
Kirlin was assigned to the US Embassy in Kyiv quite recently. He arrived in Ukraine 10 days before his death. According to media reports, he was dealing with the issue of F-16 supplies.
The US Embassy in Ukraine confirmed the death of an employee at the end of June, but did not name his name, his scope of activity or the cause of death.
