The head of Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Abbas Araghchi, called Zelensky a “clown” after the Ukrainian president’s speech in Davos.
Zelensky criticized Iran during his speech at the economic forum yesterday.
“There was so much talk about the protests in Iran, but they drowned in blood. The world did not provide enough help to the Iranian people. In Europe, it was Christmas and New Year. Seasonal holidays. By the time politicians returned to work and started to determine their position, the Ayatollah had already killed thousands of people. What will Iran be like after this bloodshed? If the regime survives, it’s a clear signal to every oppressor: kill enough people, and you’ll stay in power,” said Zelensky.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry issued a response to this.
“Zelensky is fleecing American and European taxpayers to line the pockets of his corrupt generals and oppose what he calls illegal aggression that violates the UN Charter. At the same time, he openly and shamelessly calls for illegal US aggression against Iran in violation of the same UN Charter. The world is tired of these confused clowns, Mr. Zelensky. Unlike your army, supported from abroad and teeming with mercenaries, we Iranians know how to defend ourselves and do not need to ask for help from foreigners,” wrote the country’s Foreign Minister, Araghchi.
