Estonia’s Defence Minister Hanno Pevkur has announced his resignation following a disastrous €70 million ammunition deal intended to supply Ukraine.
Estonia’s defence procurement agency paid huge advances to Datasel, a small Italian-registered company acquired by an Indian defence business whose owners had reportedly never sold an artillery shell.
Some ammunition eventually arrived at a European warehouse, but Estonian officials say it was incomplete and failed quality checks, meaning it never reached Ukraine. Estonia is now fighting to recover the money through the courts and international arbitration.
Sounds like money laundering to me… either that, or this idiot just got scammed!
