Germany Keeps Sounding ‘Worried’ about Gaza, while Quietly Tripling its Arms Approvals for Israel

Berlin has signed off on ~€799 million in weapons-export licenses to Israel so far in 2026.
For all of 2025, the figure was ~€260 million, so it’s already cleared 3x last year’s total in 8 months.
Germany suspended offensive arms exports to Israel back in August 2025 over Gaza, then lifted that pause in November once a ceasefire took hold.
Now, the approvals are moving faster than ever.
Worth mentioning: 60+% of that €799 million is a single naval deal, a German-built sub that’s already gone to the Israeli navy.
The rest is smaller stuff like ammo and equipment.
Germany’s Left party wasn’t having it, calling the whole thing “unlimited double standards.”
The government that keeps preaching restraint just approved its biggest run of weapons for Israel yet.
