What Does Trump’s Peace Plan Actually Mean for Ukraine?
By HistoryLegends
Donald Trump has been elected as President of the United States. What does it mean for the war in Ukraine? A first draft of a peace plan proposal was suggested: freezing the front. However, it seems both Russia and Ukraine don’t benefit from such a deal. In the end, Trump might have no other choice but continue to support Ukraine militarily.
Here’s what others had to say:
@polignac
I don’t know how anyone at this point believes ukraine can win. Ukraine has had almost a third of its population leave/become casualties of this war. They lost a large margin of their industrial sectors in the east to the russians, etc. Its unfortunate how much things change in just 2 years, they will never be the same.

To be fair, back in 90’s Ukraine not only agreed to denucliarization, but also said that it will be sovereign non-aligned state. This was one of the conditions under which Russia recognized Ukraine as new sovereign state. “DECLARATION OF STATE SOVEREIGNTY OF UKRAINE (1990)”
As we know, Ukraine itself has renounced this status, which makes all previous agreements with them invalid.
@Hella333
For starters the nukes weren’t Ukrainians and Ukraine never had control over them. Secondly 1994 agreement was predicated on Ukraine’s neutrality, which was rendered void by an illegal coup in 2014
@herman9255
We can’t discuss Ukraine without mentioning Victoria Nuland and Maiden Square

I am Russian. I was in Crimea, in Sevastopol in 2008, when I was young, I didn’t have the feeling that I was abroad at all.
I was also in Crimea in 2024, for 2 weeks, I visited all the largest cities from Kerch to Yevpatoriya, nothing has changed, our Russians live everywhere here and Russians from the mainland are welcomed everywhere, this is a purely Russian region, both 16 years ago and now, no options.
@vlad_47
Russia dictates the terms, no one else.
Anyone willing to dictate to Russia can only do so after entering the war and defeating it.
@codernov
Now for Krimea. I was in Ukranian Krimea back in either 2011 December or 2012 December. Sorry I do not remember pricesely. Basically I had a gf from Uznekistan she was Russian, and to review visa or whatever I don’t know she had to exit Russia and return. So we went to Krimea Ukraine. Whatever that city is called next to the border. It was crap man. I had Niva 4×4 with 29 inch wheels and I had trouble traveling within city. Roads were garbage. Looking at people, everything gray, no happy faces. So dont’ be surprised that the way they votten on their referendum. Maybe Krimea was Ukranian, but Ukraine did not do anything for Kremia.
@conniptions1533
Budapest memorandum was never a defence pact. Besides they weren’t Ukraines nukes, they were the Soviet unions
@zaynevanday142
Refuse for Ukraine to join NATO for 20 years nope that will never be acceptable to Russia
@lek4a
They really think russia will stop now that they have total superiority. If they continued fighting after multiple lost battles in 2022 they will definitely continue to victory. Nato troops at the border in ukraine practically means nato troops are next to russia which they wanted to prevent by starting SMO
@jona826
Much needed Realism. Europe’s borders have shifted many times in its history.
@m13.merlyn
As a Russian I will say:
1. all 4 resolutions are included in our constitution as the territory of the Russian Federation, accordingly they will have to belong to the Russian Federation entirely.
2. Also, the Russian Federation may demand Odessa.
3. The presence of NATO soldiers on the territory of Ukraine is unacceptable.
4. The country’s very entry into NATO is also unacceptable. This is just my opinion, it may not coincide with the opinion of the leaders of the Russian Federation
@prostytroll
13:04 As I know this 1994 memorandum stipulated that Ukraine to be a neutral country – remember CIA bases near Russian border?
@abqmalenurse
Ukraine violated the Budapest Memorandum in 2014. Part of that agreement was that Ukraine would not seek to join NATO. Until 2014, this was part of their constitution. Then they changed the constitution to actively seek NATO membership.
@severusalexander8567
There is no way Trump expects Russia to agree to this plan. This will not be acceptable for Russia. I’m not sure where this will lead us
