Why Prabowo Is Targeting Indonesia’s Billionaires After Deadly Unrest? | Vantage With Palki Sharma
By Firstpost
Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto is reportedly moving against the country’s billionaires to reclaim what he calls “ill-gotten gains.” The push follows Indonesia’s worst unrest in decades, which began on August 25 over housing allowances for lawmakers and spread to more than 30 provinces. At least 10 people were killed and over 1,000 detained. Prabowo reshuffled his cabinet, removing Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati. Markets fell as the new finance chief, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, unveiled a $12 billion stimulus and interest rate cuts. Can Prabowo restore stability?
Here’s what others had to say:

Solidarity to our Indonesia brothers from Nepal . Get rid of all corrupt politicians.
@Anonymousa69
Philippines loves their Indonesian cousins… Filipinos will do the same
@playing1042
Trust me the majority of world citizens are in support and cheering for the Indonesian people.
@darwinqpenaflorida3797
Support the People of Indonesia from Calamba City Laguna in the Philippines.
@Oppo-z3y
India better investigate Indian millionaires, billionaires etc for corrupt n illegal practices.
@bunnyboy6615
Prabowo should first take aim on Political Corruptors if he really wants to address the Root Cause.
@rodpettet2819
It should be made illegal anywhere in the world to be a billionaire. Very few made their money 100% legally. Billionaires should be banned from becoming politicians, or lobbying legislators.
@officialardeka6117
Saya dari indonesia, prabowo sampai saat ini mendapat dukungan penuh dari rakyat karna prabowo sudah membuktikan penangkapan korupsi yg aktif 10 bulan hampir 100 karuptor
@CrisostomoIbarra3835
Widening gap between rich and poor, those who have and those who cannot have.
Same in the Philippines.
@adralia23
Indonesia with Prabowo and the NEW Finance Minister, Purbaya, is a strong country. It will not be easy for foreign powers to topple off the government by infiltrating mass protestors. The government of Indonesia is now investigating those infiltrators.
The people of Indonesia support Prabowo’s moves, especially the new finance minister’s m
@arkacoolin
I’m sure the Indonesian demonstrations had no intention of causing riots or burning buildings… It’s very likely that there were infiltrators who took advantage of the situation to create chaos.
@SA-mj3uv
Indonesia, Philippines, France, Netherlands, Nepal…all these protests is a sign that people are getting the courage to fight corrupt, greedy politicians who have kept people purposely low in morale, education. opportunities and financial literacy. Educate, educate, educate. This is the starting weapon against corruption.
@carlwinters8632
I like when she said Indonesia will consider a wealth redistribution policy. In the U.S. the billionaires control everything and our politicians are some of the most corrupt in the entire world. The U.S. should be an example of what not to do. Best of luck moving forward. Long live Indonesia!!
@Skkaunda
Rich billionaire oligarchs are always a problem when not controlled. Putin and china had to ruthlessly put them under control. In the USA, billionaire donors make policies which is very dangerous
@WilliamYuennamchan-l9h
This Incompetent Prabowo Should Resign and let another Strongman General to take over the Presidency to save Indonesia from Fragmentation and Break out into 6 or 7 Different State, when they Declare Independence!
